Officially licensed by the University of Wisconsin and Grateful Dead. The Grateful Dead's 1971 show at the University of Wisconsin, including a nearly 50-minute version of "Playing in the Band" - the band's longest single-song performance during their career - left a lasting cultural mark on both the university and the broader community. The Dead would go on to play half a dozen more times in Madison, solidifying their relationship with the city and region. The love for the Grateful Dead is alive and well in Madison, Wisconsin.
