University of Texas – Hook ’Em Horns Collection

Though the Grateful Dead never performed directly at the University of Texas, their multiple shows in Austin, made a significant impact on the culture and the Dead's approach to touring. With multiple shows at the Austin Municipal Auditorium (now the Palmer), and larger shows at Manor Downs, the Dead were horns up for central TX. This connection between the Dead and Austin’s music scene contributed to the city's evolving reputation as the "Live Music Capital of the World," with the band’s influence woven into the fabric of Texas music culture.
