Havin' a Good Time, Here Today

Before the sellouts and the sing-alongs, before Panic in the Streets and silver-bulldog Saturdays, there was Athens, red clay, dive bars, and that unmistakable hum coming from downtown.

Widespread Panic was born here. So were the B-52s, R.E.M., and a sound that turned a small college town into a state of mind. It wasn’t about fame; it was about family, music and football, sweat and soul, all mixed into one long jam.

That same energy still runs through the streets on game day, from the Georgia Theatre to Sanford Stadium, where the band and the Dawgs are both the home team. It’s the spirit of a place that doesn’t just show up, it shows out.

This collection is a tribute to that feeling, to Athens, to the band that put it on the map, and to everyone who knows there’s something in the water down here.
