Behind the Lens at Barton Hall

Larry Reichman was a freshman at Cornell when the Grateful Dead arrived in Ithaca for their now-legendary May 8, 1977 performance at Barton Hall. After spending the year photographing concerts around campus, he was given rare all-access entry to document the entire day — from load-in to lights down. The result is the only complete photographic archive that exists from that show. Now collected in a limited edition hardcover book, these images capture more than a concert. They capture a moment that’s been passed hand to hand through generations of Deadheads ever since. Beautifully printed in the USA, this is the kind of piece that belongs on the shelf, on the coffee table, and eventually in someone else’s hands years from now.
