The Grateful Dead’s performances in the Southern U.S., though fewer compared to other regions, were deeply impactful—particularly given Jerry Garcia’s roots in bluegrass and folk music, which resonated strongly with the Ole Miss faithful. The band's fusion of rock, blues, and bluegrass resonated with Southern Deadheads and with Oxford just a ~2 hour drive from Muscle Shoals, the blues carry throughout the Mississippi plains. While we don't think the Dead ever covered Hotty Toddy, our Ole Miss x Grateful Dead collection is sure to make you a Friend of the Grove.
