On October 30, 1977, the Grateful Dead rolled into Assembly Hall for what would become one of the standout shows from their legendary 1977 tour—a run many Deadheads still consider the band at their absolute peak. Bloomington brought the energy, and the band delivered: a charged “Playing in the Band” jammed into “The Other One” and “Wharf Rat,” before closing it all out with a full-tilt “Johnny B. Goode.” It was one night, one stop on a storied tour, but it left a lasting mark on Hoosier Country, and anyone lucky enough to be in the room. The Indiana x Grateful Dead collection pays tribute to that night and the deep groove it carved into IU’s legacy, and is a nod to the Hoosiers who showed up, tuned in, and danced like they meant it.
