On November 15, 1971, the Grateful Dead rolled into Austin Municipal Auditorium and turned the city loose for the night. Longhorn fans traded football Saturdays and afternoons at the ballpark for “Truckin’,” “Dark Star,” and the kind of jams that made people follow this band from town to town. Like a late inning game under the lights, the night just kept unfolding.
