The Grateful Dead didn’t just pass through Houston, they played on campus. In November 1972, the band took over Hofheinz Pavilion at the University of Houston for two consecutive nights, stretching out deep, exploratory sets that turned a college arena into a full-on Dead zone. They came back again in the Keith/Donna era for 10/14/77 at Hofheinz, bringing that late ’77 swagger to a UH crowd that already knew the deal.
